            Unique Education Options in Quebec

            The Quebec education system is a little different than other areas in Canada. In Quebec, college is considered the first level of post-secondary studies. Students are required to complete secondary school or vocational training before being admitted to college. In college, students have two options:

            1. 2 years of pre-university education – ideal for students that want to continue their studies
            2. 3 years of technical training – ideal for students planning to enter the workforce

            University is considered the second level of post-secondary education. As in other provinces, students can complete a Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate Degree. Length of the program depends on the academic discipline.

            Admissions for International Students

            International and out of province students are required to not only meet the admission requires of the school of their choice, they will also need to arrange proper immigration paperwork (international students only) and have proof of financial means to pay for their education.

            Meeting requirements can be done in 4 steps:

            1. Choose a program and school
            2. Apply for admission
            3. Get a Quebec Acceptance Certificate for Studies from Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles du Québec
            4. Get a study permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)
