The majority of residents are Inuit along with a mix of English and French residents.

            Similar to the other territories, mining is the major industry. However, other industries such as oil, gas, and mineral exploration, as well as other traditional trades such as hunting, fishing and crafts also play a role in the economy.

            Even though it is known to get extremely cold during the winter months, there are many breath taking things to see. With a large collection of national and territorial parks, wildlife sanctuaries, rivers, and no shortage of outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, and even dogsledding, it is the perfect place for people that love to explore the outdoors.

            Nunavut Education Options

            There is one post-secondary school in the territory – Nunavut Arctic College, which is located in Iqaluit. However, there are five campuses that are located indifferent communities throughout the territory. They are:

            • Nunatta Campus
            • Nunavut Research Institute Science Campus
            • Kivalliq Campus
            • Nunavut Trades Training Centre
            • Kitikmeot Campus

            Dedicated to ensuring that everyone in the territory has equal access to education, there are also community learning centres that are located in each one of the communities in Nunavut, allowing students to study regardless of where they are located.

            The school offers a number of academic programs for students to consider, namely business, education, environmental studies, fine arts, and apprenticeship trades programs.
